Superlink / Energon Tow-line (Part 1)

http://toyspileup.blogspot.sg/2014/05/energon-tow-line-part-1.html
This week, we return to the year 2004 to review on a character that never made it into the Energon animated series; Tow-line.

Alternator mode:

Tow-line's alternate mode is an Outdoor broadcast van. You can see the red transparent energon piece on the roof that looks very much like the broadcast equipments (display screen, camera, speaker/satellite details).

Tow-line's main color scheme comprises of shades of blue, white, silver and red. In the alternate mode, the main body is dark blue with red silver stripes painted across the length of the vehicle. The roof is in lighter shades of blue with some gold paint apps on it.

In terms of playability, there isn't much to expect from this dull looking van (not considering the toy is able to roll on his free rolling wheels).

Details:

The front of the cab is white with transparent red windows. There are some simple paint apps noticeably the red Autobot logo right in the middle. From the back, the vehicle looks to be missing a door or something.

A closer look on the front cab and the gold rim wheels. Notice above the right wheel, there is an Energon pac that had an Autobot logo in it. Looks cool.

From the details on the side of the van, you can see more evidence of why I concluded it to be a broadcast van. One detail is the molded unpainted ladder on each side of the van that looks to allow the cameraman to access to the roof.

A closer look at the red transparent Energon piece and its details.

Transformation:

Tow-lie's transformation is very different from the usual Transformers figures. It actually transforms and splits into 2 parts; the robot and a platform. This is quite similar to the G1 Ratchet and Ironhide except that Tow-line has a far better robot mode.

Next week, we will review on Tow-line in his robot mode
